Folding in Asana

Where Niyama meets Yama.

I enjoyed making this video, as I do most of them, yet this particular one meant a lot me as it is the first physical real example of how the first three limbs of Patanjali’s Yoga slots together. And in all honestly, it’s too perfect to be a coincidence. When you hit all the marks and you fold your way into this second forward bend, the inside of your body, well at least this body, expands from the inside like someone has pumped up a balloon which runs alongside your spine. The result is that you feel full, solid and yet simultaneously open and free. Supported and firm whilst also being mobile and flexible. You feel active, whilst also clearly experiencing a deep wave of release and relaxation. At minimum you feel “steady and comfortable” which is exactly what (the translation of) Asana means.

I do hope you enjoy the video, and if you make it to the end and liked it, or maybe even enjoyed it enough to give it go, do let me know buy simply liking the post, or maybe even leaving a comment.
