When the heart talks to the sky

Bending backwards, the conception of Asana

Firstly, there was a slight technical error with the recording, hence the break of the instructions into two parts. Yet often the ‘mistake’ is then seen as an opportunity for something slightly better. So here we are with two videos, one containing my preamble ramblings and the second where some may consider the ‘good stuff’ where the movement is. Yet I hope you sit and let the words of my preamble wash over you, as the ‘way’ of Asana is as, if not more, important than the shape you’re making. For we can bend backwards all we like, and though it may look like our chest is opening because it’s being stretched skyward, all we may be experiencing is our lower back screaming its concerns, or our belly gripping like mad over the fear of falling back on our heads. There is no room in these two scenarios for our hearts to speak.

Yet, if we follow the instructions of the preamble and, finding that the folding of our inward leg spirals into our bowl magics space up inside of us, we allow the space to permeate and pour through us. This experience is pleasurable, and pleasure is a fine way to open our hearts. Space and pleasure are the sensational foundations of this posture, which is why the heart speaks to the sky!

I know, it all sound a bit ‘Woo Woo’, but then again I am trying to describe the delight available within your being. So, I suggest you take a look at the second video and let me know what you think.

Thank you, as I really do value and appreciate the time you spend reading and watching my ramblings. If you wish to support me further on this journey, then buy me a 🍵
